When you purchase a vehicle, you know you’re investing in a piece of machinery that costs tens of thousands of dollars.
The dealer, your Dad, and pretty much anyone who knows anything about automobiles will tell you to keep up with a regular maintenance service schedule, and if you’re a “good” car owner, you do. Because you made a large investment and it’s important to get your money’s worth – for as many years as possible.
What would you say if we told you that you should be treating your A/C unit in the exact same way?
Show Your A/C Unit Some Love
We understand that your friends and family aren’t going to be WOWED by your A/C unit in the same way they’ll be jealous, impressed, and excited about your snazzy vehicle.
Visually? Not much to look at.
BUT, when those same friends and family’s A/C units poop out after only 5-7 years of use and yours is still going strong for another 5-7 years AFTER that…
OR when they’re about to invest in another brand-new unit after such a short period of time…
PERHAPS they’re forced to trade in their well maintenance, shiny new vehicle to afford to stay cool next summer…
…you and your well-maintained A/C unit will be sitting pretty cool.
What’s an Ideal Maintenance Schedule?
If you want your home’s A/C unit working at peak performance level, it’s best to get annual maintenance scheduled including two seasonal appointments per year.
Can you believe so few people do this? THAT’S IT!
You’ll want to schedule your cool maintenance scheduled for late winter or early spring before “cooling season” and schedule your warm maintenance for late summer or early fall, right before “warming season”.
Just two appointments per year could save you money and frustration while extending your system’s cooling years; What more could you want?
How to Prepare for Your Scheduled Maintenance Appointment:
- Replace and/or clean air filters.
- Check for/make note of any unusual odors that are present upon system startup.
- Listen for/make note of any unusual sounds you hear upon system startup.
- Check for/ make note of any leaks in ductwork.
- Clean away any debris surrounding the main cabinet.
- Visually inspect the cabinet for any leaks and/or holes.
- Visually inspect and clear away outside of control box associated with unit.
